 The Taxes (Definition of Charity) (Relevant Territories) Regulations 2010 , which come into force on 20 August 2010, specify Iceland and Norway as ‘relevant territories’ for the purposes of Schedule 6 to the Finance Act 2010 (the jurisdiction condition of the definition of “charity” in paragraph 1). The Regulations are accompanied by a helpful Explanatory Memorandum.

It is with regret that the Association reports Richard Bendell's resignation on health grounds, recognising all the good work he has accomplished for us during his time as Director. We are however delighted to announce that Sue Daniels, who has been acting as Interim Director since February 2010, has agreed to become our Director going forward.

Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett are launching a drive to persuade billionaires to give away the majority of their fortunes.  What started as a series of very private dinners last year became a public campaign Wednesday when they called on their fellow billionaires to sign a "Giving Pledge," to donate most of their wealth to philanthropic causes of their choice.

Update for Charities: The Spending Review 2010

The Chancellor and the Chief Secretary to the Treasury have announced details of how the next Spending Review (SR) will be conducted. The SR, due to conclude in the Autumn, will set spending limits for every Government department for the period 2011-12 to 2014-15.
